Tectona grandis or Teak is a deciduous tree which grows in South-East Asia.
The tree has large leaves, perfect flowers and hardwood.
The tree can go up to a height of forty meter and yields, white fragrant flowers. The tree has two varieties, one originating in India and another on Myanmar and Laos.
Teak tree needs moist alluvial soil for growing, it must also get three to five months of dry period for cultivation.
Teak cultivation is primarily done in Indonesia, while Kerala in India is also another valued site of Teak Cultivation.
Teak Tree offers light wood, which is highly durable and can be used for furniture making, carving and various other purposes.
