Oryza Sativa or Rice, is being cultivated since time immemorial. It was grown first in the Yangtze River Basin in China.

The cereal is produced in well-drained land of soil which can hold much water and can turn muddy. Broadcasting method, Transplantation method, Japanese method and Drilling method are all ways of rice cultivation.

Chiefly, rice is grown in sub-merged fields of tropical, semitropical and temperate regions.

Most of the world produce of rice comes from Asia. China and India being the top two producers in that.

Rice is the seed of the long steam like plant. It has a cover, which when removed, gives the cereal.

Rice is used in a lot of delicacies around the world, ranging from eating it by giving it a boil to making an elaborate gourmet out of it. Alcohol is also produced from rice.

Rice primarily contains carbohydrates, other than that, it has Protein, fibres, Vitamin B, magnesium, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin and manganese. All these give the bones better health, improved nerve health and a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases.
